Rita Moreno

“Hey you guyyyyyyyyys!!” If you know the 1970s kid’s show The Electric Company, you know dancer/actor Rita Moreno (1931-) and that yell. She is one of the very few performers who has won a Grammy, a Tony, an Oscar and an Emmy and she starred in some of the best Hollywood musicals ever produced, including - Singin' in the Rain (1952), The King and I (1956), and West Side Story (1961) and (2021). 

Also Born Today: German modern dance pioneer and choreographer Harald Kreutzberg (1902-1968). Ballet dancer/choreographer Kenneth MacMillan (1929-1992) served as principal choreographer for The Royal Ballet for 15 years. Actor Teri Garr (c.1944-) trained in ballet and appeared in televised dance shows in the 1960s. Contemporary choreographer and rising star, Camille A. Brown (1979-), who combines text and popular dances from different eras in her socially-conscious work.
