Tommy Tune

Gloriously tall Texan, Tommy Tune (1939-) is best known for choreographing The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, seen on Broadway in 1978. He followed up with A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine (1980), Nine (1982), and Grand Hotel (1989), winning numerous Tony Awards. Also Born Today: Dancer Gemze de Lappe (1922-2017) was a frequent partner of James Mitchell (see February 29). Actor/dancer Charles Durning (1923-2012), was featured in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (movie-1982). Modern dancer/choreographer Bill Cratty (1951-). Broadway dancer Carole “Kelly” Bishop (1944-), before appearing in TV show Gilmore Girls, won a Tony for her role of Sheila in the original cast of A Chorus Line (1975).
